Whether your Thanksgiving prayer is traditional, a few words spoken by each person gathered around a table brimming with bounty, a poem recited to express thanks, or one to lighten the mood and give us the gift most cherished of all, a smile and a laugh, or poems of religious specificity, Thanksgiving prayers are a tradition. Whether you are a believer or not, it is a terrific time to speak a few words to let those you hold most dear know how thankful you are to have them in your life.

Whatever you choose to use as your Thanksgiving prayer make it something that will be remembered and passed on. You want a tradition of sorts to be occurring for this holiday. You want to have something that you will all remember and can recite at your meal so as to inspire all. It is something that you as a family would partake in and that everyone can follow along with. Your prayer can be based on whatever you want it to be. There are no rules in regards to this. It is up to you what you make it and what you wan tit to become. You can start new traditions or use simple prayers that are standard. Or you can be creative and have your prayer simply be having everyone who is there for the celebration to announce what they are most thankful for and ask for a blessing.

We all do have traditional prayers based on religion, or simply speeches giving thanks for the blessings in our lives, and letting those we love, who are gathered together to celebrate the spirit of love and togetherness, as well as the blessings we have received throughout the year. Thanksgiving prayers can be organized, planned, traditional, religious, or secular. The real importance is celebrating blessings, large and small, in your Thanksgiving prayer.

Bring the beauty of the fall season indoors for your Thanksgiving table decorations. Use autumn colors, fall foliage, and colorful fruits of the season to set a spectacular Thanksgiving dinner table. Why not use a large, hollowed-out pumpkin instead of a vase to display a fall floral centerpiece. Scatter sprigs of wheat, clusters of berries, nuts and autumn leaves around the base of the pumpkin. Your guests will be impressed. Try decorating your Thanksgiving Day dinner table with some simple food garnishing.  For assigned seating try these free printable place name cards.
